We’ve been on our #RoadtoFitness for more than six months (can you believe it?) and have done our best to share our favorite gyms and workouts with you along the way. Now that we’ve covered some serious ground we think it’s time for a roundup of our top picks:
BEST OVERALL WORKOUT – West Coast Fitness
Why it gets our vote: West Coast workouts are a fantastic combination of cardio and strength training. We never fail to walk out of the studio drenched in sweat with muscles shaking. There’s a reason why a gaggle of Atlanta celebrities (and the Buckhead Betties) look to West Coast for their workout of choice.
#Realtalk – the class times at the Buckhead location aren’t exactly convenient for a working woman. We can usually only make it to class on the weekends.
BEST CARDIO WORKOUT – Flywheel
This will come as very little surprise to the passionate and loyal followers of the “wheel.” The first time we tried this cult favorite our legs were rendered useless for a couple of days. There is a reason why hundreds of people credit Flywheel for changing their physique – it basically turns your body into a calorie burning furnace.
#Realtalk – it’s hard to wrap our heads around the cost of the classes (spoiler alert – it isn’t cheap), so we can’t go as often as we would like.
BEST STRENGTH TRAINING WORKOUT – CHAOS Conditioning
CHAOS was one of the very first gyms we tried on our road to fitness – and it almost killed us – in a good way. After the class we both admitted that there was a very real possibility we were going to toss our cookies or pass out at some point. It was THAT hard. Not only was CHAOS one of our most popular blog posts to date, it’s still one of our favorite places to go get our butts kicked.
#Realtalk – it’s a little pricy (similar pricing to Flywheel) and not a lot of frills.
BEST FITNESS COMMUNITY – Barre3
We know that having the right workout buddy, or community, can make the difference between mediocre results and incredible results – skipping class and going to happy hour or being accountable to people who squeeze their butts into spandex and hit a different kind of “barre.” Barre3 provides that community in a way no other gyms have (that we’ve tried anyway). And it makes a difference!
#Realtalk – we don’t walk out of this class sweating like crazy – and it doesn’t always help us meet our cardio quota – so you have to make sure you hit the streets or a cardio class as well as the barre.
BEST BARRE WITHOUT MIMOSAS – Pink Barre
Don’t knock a gym with “pink” in the name until you’ve tried it! While the classes are hit or miss (mostly because of the instructors – Joanna is our fave!), if you’re looking for the girliest vibe in town that offers a killer workout – this is your spot!
If you haven’t had a chance to give these gyms a try, do yourself a favor and schedule a class. There is a 0% chance you will regret your decision.
