Bermuda, Bahama, Come on Pretty Mama

Everyone needs a little beach time once and awhile, right? I know I do! Stripes and I headed to beautiful Bermuda recently and had the BEST time! We stayed at the fantastic Reefs Resort & Club, which has been a popular destination since 1947, and a top priority on our travel bucket list!

I thought I would break up my vacation post into three: where we went, what we did, what I wore. Welcome to part one!

When we were deciding where we wanted to spend our 2nd year anniversary we had a short list of things we wanted:

  1. A phenomenal beach
  2. An international destination
  3. Some serious R&R

We narrowed it down to several options: the Dominican Republic, Croatia and Bermuda. Ultimately we chose Bermuda because we had several friends who have been there and loved it (including Kelly,) it’s a super short flight from ATL (2.5 hours!!) and it has The Reefs!

Getting ready for the beach!

The flight was short, customs was a snap and we landed with plenty of time to hit the beach and order a rum swizzle!

The island itself is incredible. The weather was perfect! The nights were a little warmer than I expected, never dropping below 70, and the afternoons were usually in the high 70s or low 80s. We lucked out and the humidity even held off! There was also an awesome sea breeze that we couldn’t get enough of. And luckily our room looked out right over the BEAUTIFUL beach and allowed us to access that breeze – even when we were in our room (which didn’t happen often – despite the beautiful view!)

Although, I have to admit, this vacation wasn’t without its issues. For example, we had to make a lot of tough decisions: Rum Swizzle or Dark ‘N’ Stormy? Infinity pool or white sand beach? Throw the football or snorkel? #thestruggleisreal

The great thing about The Reefs is it gives you very few reasons to want to leave. The food is excellent, the private beach was my favorite on the island (and that’s saying a lot, because these pink beaches are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen) and the drinks were super tasty! Plus, they had kayaks, snorkeling equipment and beach games to keep us busy! However, we didn’t leave anything to chance – Stripes lugged his football all the way from Atlanta. It kind of felt like it was a romantic vacation for the three of us – he was rarely without that thing. We have more pictures of Stripes with his football than Stripes with me – but I’m not complaining. I couldn’t have asked for a better third wheel.

It seemed like management was working out a couple issues with the staff, and sometimes service was a little slow, but hey – if it’s good enough for Michael Douglas it’s good enough for me! We can’t wait to go back!

Yep – that’s right! Breakfast with The American President.

The fabulous staff at The Reefs Resort & Club hooked us up with upgrades and special accommodations on behalf of PeachtreeRoadies.com – but the beach views, Rum Swizzles and memories to last a lifetime are all genuinely awesome and unforgettable.
